Do I need to run the whole course?
No. You may run as a Just Have Fun runner and only participate in the portion of the course that you opt to complete.
What is a Just Had Fun finish?
Since this is an event geared toward the entire family, we want to encourage everyone to participate—therefore we will have two finish lines. One will be for those who want to do the entire course and have a timed finish. The other finish is for those who do not want to do the entire route but still want to participate and Just Have Fun. We ask every participant timed or JHF to cross their finish line so we can account for all of our participants.
Do I need to do every obstacle?
No. Just do the ones you feel safe doing and that are fun for you. We actually prefer you skip an obstacle if you feel you do not have the capability to complete it safely.
How long is the course?
The Tonka Mud Run course is approximately 3.5 miles (a little over a 5k) for the entire course—any participants are welcome to enter as Just Have Fun runners and can choose to run certain portions of the course. The Prairie Trail area is approximately 1.5 miles. The loop down to the beach and over to the boat ramp and back is about 2 miles. The Mini-tonka Mud Run is about 1/4 mile.
Is there a discount for registering early?

Yes. All family members (or family with friends) with groups of four or more participating in the Tonka Mud Run may register as a group and receive a 5% discount prior to late registration. For families or groups smaller than four, you may still register with a team name, but there will be no discount.
When does registration close?
Regular registration closes on July 14th. You may do a late registration online through the 18th, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church July 21st from 5:30- 7:00 pm, or the day of the race. Please note, t-shirts and goody bags are given on a first come, first serve basis for late registrations.
What does my registration include?
Entry fee to the park/ T-shirt and goodie bag with coupons from local vendors guaranteed if preregistered and available first come, first serve during late registration/ Medal for Timed and Just Have Fun participants, a ribbon for our Mini-Tonka mudders/ Post race refreshments available first come, first serve/ On course paramedics/ all administrative costs i.e. permit, insurance fees, etc.
Can I cancel my registration?
You may cancel your registration up to July 14th. The $10.00 per participant MCEC processing fee will not be refunded. To cancel please contact MCEC at (952)-401-6800. You may transfer your registration to another participant up to race day.
Can I register the day of the run?
You can register the day of the race. We do encourage registering prior to race day to avoid long lines on race day. Late registrants receive a goody bag on a first come, first serve basis as we will have a limited supply the day of the event.
Do I need to register my child for the Mini-tonka Mudder?
Yes. Every participant needs to pay the registration fee and sign a waiver before being allowed to participate.
Can I wear a costume?
Yes! We encourage it. Let your imagination run wild. We will have a trophy for best costumes, including individual and team/family categories. Costumes will be judged during the awards ceremony.
What if it rains?
If it rains the race will proceed as planned. However, if there is thunder, lightning, or any other severe weather, we will postpone the race until such weather has passed for a half an hour and then bump the times back accordingly.
Is the entire course mud?
No. There is actually very little mud. Mud runs were developed as challenge runs. There are many different degrees of challenges offered from one mud run to the next. Since our run is family friendly, our challenges score higher on the fun factor and lower on the risk factor.
